Quite a mouthful of labeling there and of course there is the opposite being, a Nortern Irish Loyalist protestant. But where you are born, who you are born to, and the time you are born into determines what labels, attachments and baggage you are destined to carry with you for the lifetime you live here. All of 398 years ago during the early days of Reformation Christianity and rebellion in Ireland against the English Crown, a plantation of land granted by an insecure protestant James 1st to Scottish protestants loyal to him sowed the seeds of the division betwwen the peoples of that small piece of planet earth. Many countless thousands have lived fought and died in the cause of one side or the other over the intervening centuries.
This week we saw the leaders of both sides sitting down together to talk about a future together. Took a while to see the bigger picture.Â
The strongest attachment that we seem to carry is, who owns the land? This has been at the heart of nearly all human conflict since we, as humans existed here. As I said before the error in our thinking that we own the planet is fundamental to our missing the bigger picture, the chance to live in peace and true freedom appreciating our place in time and space.         Â
